Privacy & cookies
Last updated: 23 September 2026
FinnishKit is an independent gear comparison website operated by Finnish Gear Reviews. Finnish Gear Reviews is the data controller for the personal information described in this notice. FinnGear is the public creator name used on the site. For privacy questions or requests, email finnishgear@gmail.com. This notice applies to finnishkit.com.
Your choice comes first
You can browse and compare products without accepting analytics or advertising. Neither is required to use the site. Use Privacy choices at the bottom of any page to accept, reject or withdraw your choices. Withdrawal applies to future processing and does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.
What we use and why
Delivering the website: our hosting providers process technical requests, including IP addresses, browser information and requested URLs, to deliver pages and maintain security. Our basis for this processing is our legitimate interest in providing a reliable, secure website.
Optional visitor statistics: with your consent, Google Analytics measures page views, visits, referrals and device information. It uses identifiers and cookies to distinguish visits. The site's Analytics configuration disables Google advertising signals and ad personalization. We do not deliberately send your email address or product-search terms to Analytics.
Optional advertising: with your consent, Google AdSense can process device, network, cookie and ad-interaction information to display and measure ads and prevent fraud. We request non-personalized ads; these can still use cookies. Where required, a separate Google consent message explains the participating vendors and purposes. The site's advertising placements wait for the required consent signal.
Messages you send: if you email us, your address and message are processed by our email provider so we can respond. Our basis is our legitimate interest in handling enquiries. Please avoid sending sensitive information we do not need.
Cookies and local storage
We store your privacy choices in your browser for up to 180 days, then ask again. Google Analytics may set cookies beginning with _ga when enabled. Google advertising and its consent platform may store identifiers and consent records as explained in their messages and policies. You can also remove cookies and site storage in your browser; removing your saved choices causes the site to ask again.
Disabling Analytics stops future site analytics and removes accessible first-party Analytics cookies. Turning off advertising removes the site's ad placements. Use Google ad preferences in the footer to revisit Google's consent message where available. Browser controls can remove remaining third-party cookies.
Sharing and international processing
Service providers involved include Google for analytics, advertising and email, and the site's hosting infrastructure. Retailers may receive your IP address and browser details when product images load from their servers. Clicking a store, YouTube or X link takes you to a separate service with its own privacy policy. Varusteleka links include FinnGear's referral code.
These services may process information outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Google describes its transfer mechanisms and safeguards in its data-transfer information. See also Google's use of information from partner sites and Google's privacy policy.
How long information is kept
Local privacy preferences expire after 180 days. Analytics and advertising information follows the applicable Google account settings and service retention policies; cookie lifetimes can differ from server-side retention. Enquiries should be retained only for handling the request, necessary follow-up or applicable legal obligations. Hosting security records follow the provider's operational retention rules. Contact us for information about retention relevant to your request.
Your European privacy rights
Where the GDPR applies, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your personal data, subject to the applicable conditions. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests and withdraw consent at any time. Email us to exercise your rights; we may need proportionate information to verify your identity and locate relevant records.
You can complain to a supervisory authority, including in the country where you live, work or believe an infringement occurred. Find your authority in the European Data Protection Board directory. FinnishKit does not use your personal data to make automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
